Our vineyards are the centrepiece

Our winery is located in Herreros de Jamuz, in the south of the province of León (Autonomous Region of Castilla y León, Spain). The vineyard extends along the valley of the Jamuz River, which originates in the Teleno Mountain, a few kilometres from Herreros. This situation lends our area unique climatic characteristics and soil conditions.

A temperate continental climate predominates, with temperatures varying widely between daytime and night-time. It is marked by long, cold winters with intense spells of frost, and scorching, dry summers. The shelter of the Teleno Mountain accounts for one of the highest light intensities in Spain and scarce rainfall.

Our vineyards, many of which are centuries old, are planted in small plots and located at an altitude of 800 metres to both sides of the Jamuz River. They grow on brown soils of very low fertility. The soil is mostly acid and poor in organic matter, with a loamy texture, and abundant stone and siliceous material.
